Congratulations New Jersey Future Business Leaders of America! At this year's National Leadership Confernece in Atlanta, Georgia, NJ rocked the house with state record-breaking successe. Most notably, thirty-nine New Jersey students placed in the top ten positions in competitive events. Additionally, six of these event winners reached the upper echelon of achievement by placing first in their competitive event. Accordingly, New Jersey FBLA members garnered several thousand dollars in college scholarships from their accomplishments. Nicole Maione, the former NJ FBLA Central Region Vice President, New was awarded a full tuition scholarship to Johnson and Wales University. To add to New Jersey’s success in Atlanta, our state received: Business Person of the Year award, second in our region for the recruitment of new chapters, fifth place in State Chapter Business Report, third in the nation for state fundraising, second in the nation for individual chapter fundraising, and a $1,000 grant to a New Jersey high school to finance fundraising endeavors for the March of Dimes.
In addition to the significant competitve event achievments, the NLC was marked with two campaign victories. Paul M. Cohen, the current NJ FBLA State President was elected as the FBLA Eastern Region Vice President.Eric Weinberg, the NJ State Vice President of PBL, won his campaign for PBL Eastern Region Vice President. For the first time in New Jersey FBLA-PBL history, New Jersey will host two national officers in the high school and college divisions.
In the end, New Jersey FBLA experienced an amazing conference marked by the election of two FBLA-PBL national officers from NJ, a record-breaking number of award recipients, thousands in scholarships, and extraordinary accomplishment for all in attendance.

4/15/08 - The New Jersey Executive Board is now seeking applications for the vacant Membership Vice President position. Any interested candidates should complete the officer application form and resume and submit it to the New Jersey FBLA State Office by Monday, May 5, 2008. The application for New Jersey FBLA State Webmaster for 2008-2009 is now available. Here is a quick preview of the Webmaster's responsibilities:
The primary role of the New Jersey FBLA State Webmaster is to manage the NJ FBLA website. The website requires constant maintenance, as it serves as a crucial communication tool for New Jersey FBLA. The Webmaster must be responsive to changes and updates submitted by the State Chairwoman, Educational Specialist, and State Officers. The management of the local chapters area, maintenance of new content, and administration of the message boards are some of the responsibilities of the State Webmaster. The Webmaster must be able to develop new ideas for the website and prepare a Webmaster’s Report for distribution at every State Officer meeting. The newly-selected Webmaster should be able to attend the May 20, 2008 NJ FBLA State Officer meeting.
Applications for State Webmaster must be submitted via postal mail to the New Jersey FBLA State Office (address included in the application) by April 15, 2008. All interested FBLA members with at least one year remaining in their business education are encouraged to apply. Every year, New Jersey FBLA awards a $100 scholarship to two outstanding seniors who will attend the National Leadership Conference in Atlanta, Georgia. FBLA Week is Fast Approaching

FBLA week is February 10-16, 2008. Chapters are encouraged to publicize FBLA and boost their membership in preprartion for FBLA spring activities.
Accordingly, FBLA-PBL has published a FBLA Week guide to aid chapters in planning their activities. A week-long list of suggested activities is included, as well as a sample FBLA Week proclimation.

The 76ers will host a sports and entertainment high school career seminar on March 26th, 2008. Students will:
• Gain insight into what occurs in a sports related work environment. • Discover the various tasks that are performed at the Wachovia Center. • Learn the skills and educational requirements needed in this field. • Get the chance to see what you have learned that night at the 76ers game!

American Enterprise Day
11/8/07 - American Enterprise Day is fast approaching! On November 15, FBLA members nationwide will celebrate our American Enterprise system. "It's our American enterprise," explains Jean M. Buckley, FBLA-PBL, Inc. president and CEO. "This is our time to understand, celebrate, and appreciate American enterprise and entrepreneurship and for FBLA-PBL members to take ownership in the rights and responsibilities to protect and promote this freedom." November is Prematurity Awareness Month
11/8/07 - FBLA chapters nationwide are taking part in the November Prematurity Awareness Month. The purpose of Prematurity Awareness Month is to spread the word about premature birth, the primary cause of infant mortality. Take part in Prematurity Awareness Month at your school. "Show your support for this great organization by having students dress in Pink and Blue, putting up signs and posters around your school, putting Pink and Blue covers over the lights, or even by coming up with your own creative idea," writes Daniel Burdzy, NJ FBLA Community Service Vice President. 11/7/07 - Several New Jersey FBLA members have been selected to serve as in various FBLA national and regional committees. The National President's Assistant (NPA) program is a committee selected by the FBLA National President, Michael Yaroshefsky, to work on special projects. Paul M. Cohen, the NJ State Webmaster, has been selected to serve as the National President's Technology Assistant. Warren Samlin, the NJ FBLA Northern Region Vice President, has been selected as the Innovation Chair of the Innovation Committee. Becky Bianco, a NJ FBLA member, has also been appointed a position on the Innovation Committee. The National Treasuer's Council is a special group appointed by the FBLA National Treasurer to assist with finance-related tasks. Pengpeng Song, the NJ FBLA State Secretary, has been selected as the Sponsorship Commitee Chair. Warren Samlin has also been selected to chair the Scholarship Committee on the National Treasuerer's Council. NJ FBLA Member Becky Bianco is a member of the Scholarship Committee along with Kapil Wattamwar, NJ FBLA North-Central Region Vice President. The FBLA Eastern Region Executive Board is a group of individuals who work for the Eastern Region of FBLA. Kapil Wattamwar serves on the Membership Committee of the Eastern Region Board. Additionally, Paul M. Cohen, has been selected as the Eastern Region International Relations Director. Paul Cohen chairs the International Relations Committee, in which Pengpeng Song is a member. NJSCPA Scholarship
10/18/07 - The New Jersey Society of CPAs (NJSCPA) High School Scholarship Program is open to all New Jersey high school seniors. Candidates are selected based on academic performance, standardized test scores, and an essay and personal interview. NJ FBLA Members Invited to Attend Marketing and Business Career Night
10/24/07 - All New Jersey FBLA members are invited to attend the Marketing and Business Career Night on Wednesday, November 14th at Raritan Valley Community College. The Career Night will be held from 6-8 PM in the Conference Center. Students will be able to learn about careers in the fields of Human resources, pharmaceutical sales, small business ownership, logistics, public relations. There will also be a breakout session where students can participate in a roundtable discussion with their choice of panelists. This is a great opportunity for FBLA members to learn about specific career paths. Featured companies include Schering-Plough, Enzon Pharmaceutical, Inc., Somerset Medical Center, and Carousel of Flowers. New Jersey FBLA Fall Leadership Conference
10/14/07 - The 2007 NJ FBLA Fall Leadership Conference (SFLC) is fast approaching! On October 25, 2007, FBLA students from across New Jersey will gather at Pines Manor in Edison, NJ. Daniel Burdzy, our 2007-2008 Community Service Vice President has posted a new letter to all of our members. Dan's new letter covers NJ FBLA's plan for Community Service. Also included is a newly-written Community Service Projects Manual. The new manual is a great guide for chapters and it features a wealth of information on planing, organizing, and running a "Super Night." New Jersey Found the Ticket to the Future
Congratulations New Jersey Future Business Leaders of America! As the year comes to an end, we reflect on our successes. New Jersey FBLA increased membership this past year by nearly 1,000 members, donated thousands of dollars to the March of Dimes, and was recognized for these and other achievements at the 2007 National Leadership Conference in Chicago.

This is the first time that an FBLA National President has been elected from New Jersey. Congratulations to Michael for this achievement. He will also continue to serve New Jersey FBLA as state president this year.
New Jersey was also very successful participating in the competitive events. Congratulations to all competitive event winners.
The New Jersey FBLA website will be redesigned this summer for the 2007-2008 year. Our newly appointed webmaster, Paul Cohen, will be working with our former webmaster to completely redesign the website. Your suggestions are welcome and appreciated. Please contact the webmaster with any comments or suggestions regarding the redesign.
Look for the new website to be complete by the end of August. We will continue to emphasize the use of the website as we seek to demonstrate the new National FBLA Theme, Leadership in Action.

Thank you to all who applied to become the New Jersey FBLA webmaster for the 2007-2008 fiscal year. All applicants demonstrated great degrees of leadership and ability, so it was tough decision.
Congratulations to Paul Cohen from Vineland High School for being selected by the Webmaster Selection Committee. Paul has the motivation to succeed and an impressive portfolio of websites. The NJ FBLA State Executive Board recently appointed Paul and he has joined the 2007-2008 officer team.
If you are interested in working to improve the website for 2007-2008, check back in September for more information regarding the newly forming State Website Committee. This new committee will meet with the webmaster throughout the year to brainstorm innovative ways to make the state website more appealing and informative.

On March 13-14, 2007, New Jersey FBLA members gathered together at the Best Western Palace Hotel and the Raritan Exhibit Hall in Edison, NJ to take part in the 47th NJ FBLA SLC. Very Important Change for the 2007 SLC
Please note the following extremely important changes regarding the 2007 New Jersey FBLA State Leadership Conference taking place on March 13-14:
Registration will now be at the Best Western Palace Hotel in the Foyer. The Opening Session and the Campaign rally will be held at the Royal Albert Palace Ballroom in the Best Western.
The wait is over! The results from the 2007 New Jersey FBLA Regional Competitive Events are now available online!
The 2007 RCEs were a success, since thousands of hopeful competitors tested their skills against other members in their region to determine who will progress to the 2007 NJ FBLA State Leadership Conference in March. At the State Leadership Conference in March, competitors will contend to determine who is the best in New Jersey.
All competitors showed extreme dedication and motivation, so congratulations to all who endeavored. In the words of Calvin Coolidge, "Perseverance and Determination alone are omnipotent."
The week of February 11th through the 17th is FBLA-PBL Week, a week-long celebration of Future Business Leaders of America - Phi Beta Lambda. Each chapter is encouraged to increase FBLA awareness during this special week. Use your creativity to discover new ways to draw positive interest to our organization.
Examples include:
Special in-school publicity posters and announcements
Celebratory membership meeting to recognize the day
Encourage members to wear business attire
Recognize members that carry their membership cards

Now Available!
Dear Members and Advisers of New Jersey FBLA:
ALL ABOARD New Jersey FBLAers! This year has been great so far. We have attended two awesome conferences, started new chapters, and we all look forward to seeing NJFBLA grow as we head towards our regional competitions.
Attendance and enthusiasm were great at both the State Fall Leadership Conference and the National Fall Leadership Conference, where New Jersey FBLA members actively participated in workshops and were entertained by energetic speakers. Both of these conferences gave NJ FBLA members a chance to network with other members, as well as learn innovative leadership techniques. So keep in mind, members and advisers, that NJ FBLA is your TICKET TO THE FUTURE!
