Jessica Smith, your state historian, is a senior at Pompton Lakes High School in Pompton Lakes. Although this is Jessica's first term as a state officer, she has held the position of vice president of public relations in her local chapter. She was awarded first place for Public Speaking I at the 2006 State Leadership Conference (SLC), and first place for Partnership With Business Project at the 2007 SLC. This year Jessica aspires to light up the Spotlight with in-depth articles and statewide coverage of the latest FBLA activities. Outside of FBLA, Jessica is an avid participant in athletics, yearbook, newspaper, Model UN, NHS, and Zonta community service. Jessica is more than happy to hear from fellow FBLA members and encourages members to voice their views on the Spotlight.
