Membership

“In order to be an immaculate member of a flock of sheep, one must above all be a sheep oneself.” — Albert Einstein

Principles

The local chapter members of NJ FBLA are not only the backbone of our organization, but also the driving force of statewide success.  This year, we hope to increase both the number of members involved in this great organization as well as encourage current members to take a more active role in creating their own FBLA legacy.  With the implementation of new programs and recruitment tactics, NJ FBLA members will surely maintain their reputation as the best in the nation.

Specific Objectives

1. Initiate the Passport of Progress — This year, NJ FBLA is launching a new program called the Passport of Progress. Each local chapter has the opportunity to participate in various FBLA activities that promote Service, Education, Teamwork, and Progress. These activities within your local chapter’s passport range in points. The objective is to gain as many points as possible so your local chapter can receive preferred seating at the 2011 State Leadership Conference. The Passport of Progress will be launched on September 1, 2010. Local chapter advisers will receive detailed information through email in the beginning of the school year.

2. Release Monthly Membership Newsletters — Ever wonder how many members NJ FBLA really has? Starting this school year, the officer team will be producing monthly membership newsletters that include the latest membership statistics, new ways to recruit members, and the featured member of the month. Members will now be able to keep up to date with all the latest numbers while increasing their own chapters’ membership!

3. Highlight Membership Benefits — Why should a student join FBLA? This year, the officer team has set out to showcase the benefits of joining FBLA. This includes recognition programs (Membership Mania / Madness and the Business Achievement Awards), as well as scholarships, competitive events, and traveling opportunities. Posters from the NLC and highlights on the website will showcase these benefits. When local chapters register some of their members by October 20, they will receive all four issues of Tomorrow’s Business Leader. This national publication presents new updates on the national level and includes articles from business people around the country.

4. Launch a Membership Committee — This brand new committee will assist the State Membership Vice President with various tasks, including increasing our state’s membership. Positions on this committee will include a secretary and regional membership directors. Through this committee, members will have an opportunity to get involved on the state level.

5. Promote Member of the Month Program — The Member of the Month program recognizes dedicated members throughout our state each month. Chapters have the opportunity to submit one of their members for this recognition every month, and recipients of the award will be recognized at the State Leadership Conference. One winner will named NJ FBLA’s “Member of the Year” at the 2011 SLC.
