Community Service

“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.” — Margaret Mead

Principles

NJ FBLA encourages all members to contribute to their community through taking active roles in service events. NJ FBLA continues to support March of Dimes, the national partner of FBLA. This year, our community service theme, Building a Better Tomorrow, encourages members to give back to their community.

Progress on various community service projects can be tracked at Community Service Central.

Specific Objectives

1. Start a March to the SLC Program– The NJ FBLA officer team has set a goal to raise a total of $50,000 this year for the March of Dimes. When local chapters send in their fundraising forms for the March of Dimes, we will record our state total on our progress bar. Our goal is to reach $50,000 by the time we attend our 2011 State Leadership Conference.

2. Raise Awareness of the Community Service Challenge — Local chapter members will be able to submit their community service hours to the State Office for recognition at the 2011 State Leadership Conference. As a first year program, our state goal is to reach 1,000 volunteer hours. A progress bar will be kept on this section about how many hours are volunteered each month. Requirements for this challenge will be posted by September 15.

3. Support Organizations — As always, NJ FBLA is committed to helping organizations that further the cause of charity and goodwill. The March of Dimes and Ronald McDonald House are both organizations that NJ FBLA supports.
